“So I asked him. From the beginning. Tell me the story.”

Inspired by the thrilling post-war journey of playwright Caroline Lezny's late grandfather, SCARLET UNDERGROUND is the story of six soldiers from a WWII-ravaged Poland forced to flee their country under threat from the newly occupying Soviet Army. Between 1945 and 1948, they wander Europe in search of a new place to call home, reexamining their identities and reevaluating their futures. This high-paced saga is a look into the personal consequences of war and the generational trauma it carries.
